A great day on Capri island!

That was a great experience. We opted for the hotel pick-up for the convenience. Everything went smoothly. After exploring Rome for 3 days, this was a much needed change of pace. My favorite part was getting on top of the mountain on the island, that view I will never forget. The guides were also very professional. Overall, a very easy recommendation from me.

One of my new favorite places!

Wow, this was an amazing tour! This is our first time in Italy, and what an introduction! The scenes were beautiful and the guide was excellent. I loved the fact that we could see Mount Vesuvius during the trip. The best part was hiking a bit to find a good vantage point. The views are stunning from the sea and from the island!!! It was a perfect day trip from Rome, highly recommended!

DESCRIPTION

Rome to Capri Day Trip

ENJOY AN ADVENTURE ON THE WAY TO CAPRI

Your journey will start by reaching the meeting place in Central Rome or if the option is selected, you can be picked up from your hotel. From there you will travel south towards Naples. Upon arriving, enjoy the panoramic view of Naples and gaze upon the captivating Mount Vesuvius. Your guide will share information about Naples as you travel towards the port for your boat ride to Capri Island. Famous as the birthplace of pizza Napoletana and for the Pompeii archaeological site, the city is guaranteed to enrich your Rome to Capri Day Trip!

TAKE THE FERRY TO A FAIRY TALE ISLAND

Upon reaching Capri, you will follow your guide across the island and visit its many attractions. One of the places you will visit is the Town of Capri located on the eastern part of the island. Sitting just above the Marina Grande, the town is home to the Piazzetta and Augustus Gardens. The Piazzetta is like a focal hub of the Town of Capri. From there you may proceed to Via Camerelle and view many designer stores or you can venture towards the Belvedere di Tragara from where you can view the magnificent Faraglioni rocks, also known as Monster’s Teeth. Alternatively, you can just sit down at the Piazzetta and enjoy a meal or a beverage as you take in the scenery around you. Make sure to check for other recommendations from your guide!

CLIMB TO THE TOP OF MOUNT SOLARO

One other notable location you will be able to visit is the Anacapri commune on Capri Island. Located on the western part of the island, this small town offers more open space than the Town of Capri and offers numerous opportunities for stunning views. Two famous locations for sightseeing are Villa San Michele and Mount Solaro. Villa San Michele is located on a cliff and was formerly a medieval church while Mount Solaro, at 1932 feet (589 meters) of altitude, is the highest point on the island. It offers the most stunning views on Capri. You can also take a scenic route for a relaxing walk, called the Path of the Forts, while admiring the beautiful Tyrrhenian Sea.

Interesting facts about Capri

  • Around 80% of Capri’s residents at any given time are tourists. With a standard population of around 13,000 inhabitants and over 2 million visitors per year, Capri Island has approximately 4 times more tourists than inhabitants on any given day.
  • Over the summer, tourists cannot use cars for transportation. This rule was enforced due to the dangerous roads on the island. Many hairpins and steep roads are present without any runoff area, which can catch out drivers not accustomed to such roads.

Book our Capri Day Trip from Rome and escape the city for stunning views on the Tyrrhenian Sea!

FAQ - Rome to Capri Day Trip

What is the recommended footwear when visiting Capri?

While it may be tempting to put on a pair of sandals or flip-flops when seeing the paradise-like surroundings on Capri, most of the time you will be walking and there are some not so easy to traverse areas. Due to that, we would recommend wearing comfortable closed-toe shoes when exploring the island.

What happens in case there are rough seas at the time of ferry departure for Capri Island?

In case the seas are rough, the boat ride will not take place in a high-speed ferry, but in a slower-speed one. The journey to the island will still take place but will take longer to reach the island. Instead of a 45-minute crossing, you can expect between a 60 and an 80-minute crossing.

How to reach the meeting point in central Rome via public transport?

The meeting point is located at Viale Giorgio Washington, right next to Piazza del Popolo. You can easily reach it via Metro Line A (Flaminio station), which is just a 2-minute walk away. Numerous bus and tram lines also stop at Piazzale Flaminio.
